Here is the shipping forecast for all inshore areas...

Hot on the heels of English Electric Lighting, The Wild Swans’ iridescent new single, Liquid Mercury has been mastered and is being pressed on 7” vinyl for UK release on 30th November 2009, with worldwide digital release a week earlier on 23rd November.

Liquid Mercury was previewed at the band’s triumphant Liverpool gigs in July and is a haunting narrative about the early days of the Wild Swans when Paul Simpson was living in a flat at 14 Rodney Street in Liverpool during the freezing winter of 1981. The B-side, The Wickedest Man in the World is another spoken-word masterwork and describes a dark and reflective midnight walk along the banks of the River Mersey.

Advance orders are now being taken for the single from the Occultation Records website www.occultation.co.uk and, postal strikes permitting, Occultation will have a copy to you in a couple of weeks, well ahead of the formal release date. Purchasers of the vinyl will also receive a free high quality digital download of both tracks and the first 200 copies will come with an autographed photo of Paul taken at 14 Rodney Street in 1981. So ends the shipping forecast. Please keep this radio frequency open…more news very soon.

English Electric Lightning by The Wild Swans

Paul Simpson reconvenes Mersey post-punks The Wild Swans to epically hymn the magic and rubbish of our island home. On the flip is a moving Proustian memoir of the Liverpool scene of the early 80’s
